Overview

The Henty Parish became a fully sanctioned charge in 1916. Our Parish is part of the Presbytery of the Southern Rivers

Over the years the parish has had a number of preaching centres. Some of the centres decided to move across to the uniting church in 1977. Others have been closed and sold due population decline. These include:

  • Pleasant Hills
  • Ryan
  • Woodend
  • Yerong Creek

Details of special services (Easter and Christmas) will be listed here closer to the time.

We celebrate the Lord's Supper (bimonthly) on the 1st Sunday in February, April, June, August, October and December.

Our current preaching centres which make up the parish are as follows:

Henty

The church address is corner of Ivor and Hayes Street Henty. As you come over the rail line into the main street, immediately turn left and we are a few blocks along. There is plenty of parking available as well as excellent disability access to the church and hall.

Our service time is 10:30am every Sunday. The service is a mix of new songs and old hymns and has a relaxed feel. Sunday School operates after the kids spot (half way through the service). Our fellowship continues after the service with morning tea.

Lockhart

The church is located of Mahers Road, Cookardinia. To find the church, turn off the Wagga Wagga-Holbrook Road into Mahers Road. Travel along the dirt road a couple of kilometres and the church is on the left (with the cemetery behind the church) a bit of distance back from the road.

Services commenced in 1879 and was part of Holbrook Presbyterian Church until 1977, when, with the formation of the Uniting Church, the church became part of the Henty Parish.

We currently have no regular scheduled services at Cookardinia.

The church is available for weddings and funerals by contacting the minister.
